The handwoven textile industry has been in existence since time immemorial. It is a huge global commodity for India. A wide variety of apparel ranging from drapes to coat, jackets and cotton kurtas and sarees in the handwoven fabric is being created out of tribal textiles today. The cotton Kurtas/Kurtis are made from fabric, which is first hand woven and then hands stitched by the Bodo tribe of Assam. The patterns on the neck and sleeves are made by way of patchwork with other hand-woven fabrics.
